Inside Pixar - Studio Tour

TEDtalk: Your body language shapes who you are

'Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how “power posing” -- standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident -- can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.
Amy Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions — and even our own body chemistry — simply by changing body positions.' via TED

'Alchemy' Free Sketch And Visual Development Software

Just found out about this software from a fellow coworker (Max Adams). It seems to be a quick and dirty way to churn out interesting shapes and silhouettes. I especially like the zbrush demo below. Also the software is free! Rock! Check out the link to the website below.

alchemy |’alkemÄ“

Figurative: a process by which paradoxical results are achieved or incompatible elements combined with no obvious rational explanation
Alchemy is a free software / open drawing project aimed at exploring how we can sketch, draw, and create on computers in new ways. Alchemy isn’t software for creating finished artwork, but rather a sketching environment that focuses on the absolute initial stage of the creation process. Experimental in nature, Alchemy lets you brainstorm visually to explore an expanded range of ideas and possibilities in a serendipitous way.

The 12 Principles of Animation

This is a great video reference of the 12 principles of animation by veteran animator Alex Williams. He pulls together a variety of reference images from various animation material to illustrate the different principles. His commentary is also informative and spot on. 3D Filmmaking Software Muvizu

Digimania's 3d production suit Muvizu is the latest in easy-to-use filmmaking software that targets artists, businesses, and educators unfamiliar with the world of 3d animation/VFX. Muvizu helps users create their films by providing a FREE streamlined software package with endless libraries of customizable assets such as characters, environments and animation performance libraries. Under the hood Muvizu is powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 3 which supports the effects, physics, real-time lighting and much more.

The software is free to download from the Muvizu website. Also checkout the FAQ page for more specific information about video watermarks, final rendering prices, file sizes and resolution.

I have my own opinions about this software specifically about the animation elements but I will save those thoughts for another post!
